Organised by the BARC North Western Centre, the CNC Heads Sports/Saloon Car Championship has built an enviable reputation for competitive racing, healthy grids and an incredibly varied selection of machinery.
Rather than focusing on a single manufacturer, model or period, the championship welcomes cars originally designed for the road before being developed for competition. Entrants are divided between Silhouette Special and Modified Sports & Saloon categories, with further classes based on engine capacity. A dedicated class also caters for silhouette cars powered by motorcycle engines.
That broad eligibility is a huge part of the championship's appeal. Different approaches to power, weight, aerodynamics and chassis development come together on the same grid.
