The Britcar Endurance Championship traces its roots back to 2002, when its inaugural season proved a resounding success, with Paul Bates taking the championship title at the wheel of his BMW M3 E30. A major milestone followed in 2005 with the introduction of the Britcar 24-Hour Race.
Britcar continued to evolve over the following years, reaching an international stage in 2020 when it supported the FIA World Endurance Championship for the first time at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. The championship took another significant step in 2025 when Britcar merged the Trophy and British Endurance Championships onto a single grid, bringing the two strands of the series together and creating a unified platform for the next chapter of Britcar endurance racing.
