North Western Centre signs off season at Oulton Park

The British Automobile Racing Club’s North Western Centre closed out its 2026 season in style this past Saturday (October 3) as four championships served up plenty of full-throttle action at Oulton Park in Cheshire.

Taking centre stage on the popular Island layout, race day saw the TCR UK Championship, Civic Cup, Audi Cup and the CNC Heads Sports/Saloon Car Championship all wow the crowds in spectacular fashion.

Chris Roberts had plenty of reason to celebrate come Saturday evening as he came out on top of a captivating battle with Paul Dobson to clinch this year’s CNC Heads Sports/Saloon Car Championship title.

Heading into the event with very little separating the pair, Roberts and Dobson proved to be the toast of the competition as they each claimed a brace of wins in their respective classes. For BMW M4 driver Roberts, that also translated into two overall wins as well.

Roberts ultimately emerged as the latest driver to be crowned champion in the North Western Centres flagship championship as he was able to match the result of Mazda RX7 FB racer Dobson - which in-turn secured him title glory.

The TCR UK Championship is set for a grandstand finish later this month - with several drivers in contention for the ultimate prize - after the tin top category produced an action-packed penultimate meeting of the campaign.

Last year’s runner-up Callum Newsham maintained his stellar run of form in qualifying to snare pole position. The Hyundai Elantra N TCR driver then converted it into a comfortable lights-to-flag victory in race one ahead of Maximus Hall and Max Hart.

Jenson O’Neill-Going - who earlier this year became the youngest-ever TCR UK winner - then returned to the top step of the podium in race two as he held off Newsham and Brad Hutchinson to triumph.

Over in the Civic Cup, spoils were shared between two of the top protagonists. After losing out on pole position by just 0.018s in qualifying, Alistair Cap was not to be denied in race one as he romped to victory ahead of Jake Renshaw and Aiden Mitchell.

Dave Marshall then emerged as the driver to beat in a frenetic race two as he managed to break clear of the chasing pack to win. His margin at the head of the field ended up being by more than three seconds ahead of Matt Wilkins and Graham Ross, who were second and third respectively.

Rounding out the day’s action were two races from the Audi Cup. As he has done on multiple occasions during the series’ debut campaign, Andrew Rogerson reigned supreme as he twice charged to the top step of the podium.
