Britcar announces revised class structure for 2027 season

The Britcar Endurance Championship has announced its proposed new class structure for the 2027 season.

In-keeping with its mantra of proactively developing categories over the past decade, organisers have taken into consideration the changing appetites in endurance racing to create a competitive framework for next season.

The classes for the 2027 campaign are as follows:

Challenge (351 – 475 bhp/tonne)

Lamborghini Super Trofeo, Porsche 991 and 992 Cup, Ferrari 458 and 488 Challenge, balanced using different-length pitstops. Also included are cars not built to the above specification but not exceeding 475 bhp/tonne.
 
GT (311- 350 bhp/tonne)

Cars originally built to GT4 regulations, plus cars not built to the above specifications but not exceeding 350 bhp/tonne, including Ginetta GTP8, BMW E46, McLaren 570s Trophy, etc.

Cayman  – New class for 2027

The regulations will follow a simplified and sanitised version of the original Porsche Sprint Challenge technical regulations to minimise costs, while performance will be regulated to ensure a level playing field.

Ginetta – New class for 2027

Ginetta G55 cars running to the published technical regulations. Varying specifications of G55 wil be balanced using weight, bhp and pitstop lengths to ensure close and competitive endurance racing.

Trophy (Up to 310 bhp/tonne)
Cars meeting a maximum power-to-weight ratio of 310 bhp/tonne, plus Ginetta GTA cars running to the published technical regulations

All cars will be checked for power using onboard data-loggers to ensure compliance with the regulations. BHP measured at the flywheel. Goodyear Racing slick or wet tyres are mandatory.
