MG Owners Club Championship closes out season at Silverstone

The Adrian Flux Insurance MG Owners Club Championship signed off its 2026 season in dramatic fashion at the Home of British Motor Racing, Silverstone, at the start of October.

In the series’ 46th season of competition, the twists and turns of the year continued into the final double-header.

Heading into the meeting, the MGB of John Copland looked on course to take both Overall and Classic Class championship honours however 18-year-old talent Alex Forster was ready to pounce if Copland hit trouble.

In the end, Copland enjoyed a trouble-free outing around the International circuit of Silverstone and his four Classic Class wins proved to be enough for him to seal the deal by 13 points over Forster.

The ever-popular Class Z saw a total of 29 drivers, including former BTCC title winner Tim Harvey, take part over the course of the season, and entering the final meeting there were five drivers that had a mathematical chance of glory.

Matthew Harvey’s dominant double at Silverstone resulted in him finishing tied on points with Scott Bugner, although it was Harvey that reigned supreme on count back of race wins - with Harvey tallying five and Bugner two.

Elsewhere, Class B and Class F honours went the way of Hannah Leonard and Simon Kendrick respectively.

With a total of 54 drivers taking part across the season and an average entry of 26 cars per meeting, the MG Owners Club Championship continues to set the standard for close and competitive racing.

After another term of high entries and close racing, several new drivers are already committed for the 2027 campaign.
