One of the defining features of Track Action is the variety of machinery on the grid. The club incorporates a number of different categories, giving competitors the opportunity to race cars from different manufacturers and eras.

Track Action joined the BARC's roster of championships in 2023, when responsibility for running the club passed to Dave Beecroft, who also runs the Junior Saloon Car Championship. The move brought Track Action into the BARC race meeting programme and created opportunities for its competitors to race at circuits across the UK.
The club has developed as a multi-marque category, giving competitors the opportunity to race a wide variety of cars rather than being restricted to a single manufacturer or model. Previous grids have included everything from Peugeot 206 GTIs and Renault Clios to Audi TTs, Volkswagen Sciroccos and Mazda MX-5s.
