Silverstone revved up for BARC bonanza

Silverstone is preparing for a British Automobile Racing Club bonanza this weekend (August 21/22) as a number of championships continue their 2021 campaigns around the Home of British Motor Racing.

Taking centre stage on the National layout of the Northamptonshire venue, the battle for supremacy will undoubtedly have those in attendance on the edge of their seats as those competing head into the business end of the season.

One of the headline acts over the course of the weekend will be the Britcar Endurance Championship. Whilst the Endurance class won’t be in action, the Trophy contingent will and they have a pair of 50-minute contests on Saturday to work through.

In what has been another memorable year for the series, every point is set to be crucial in the chase for championship glory. Front-running contenders Simon Baker, Kevin Clarke, Richard Higgins, Steve Thompson and Aaron Thompson will all be worth keeping an eye on.

The Junior Saloon Car Championship reaches a pivotal point in its season with three races scheduled to play out. Kicking off the first of two consecutive triple-headers – the second of which comes at Pembrey in October – the next six races will be crucial in deciding who enters the final few events of the season in credible contention to be crowned champion.

Charlie Hand finds himself in the box seat as it stands however he will be keen to extend his 26-point lead as the likes of Harvey Caton, Ruben Hage and Alfie Jeakins will be giving it everything they have to make in-roads.

It’s been an ultra-competitive season for the Lancaster Insurance MG Owners Club Championship with David Amphlett, Anthony Bate, Mark Baker and Steve McDermid starring as the respective class leaders.

All four of them will be eager to strengthen their position at the summit of the standings however they won’t have things all their own way, with several rapid drivers setting their sights on the top step of the podium.

Multi-class thrills ’n’ spills will be served up in the shape of the Kumho BMW Championship at Silverstone too, as the single-manufacturer series hits the track for he latest chapter of its season.

Elsewhere, Alex Cursley will be looking to continue his rich vein of form in the Carbon8 Coupe Cup with Toyo Tires – which once again boasts a bumper entry list of 33 drivers and 27 cars for Sunday’s qualifying session and 45-minute endurance race.

Rounding off the weekend’s busy program of track action will be races from the British Superkarts Championship, Avon Tyres Intermarques Championship, Biddenden Motor Racing Super Saloons and CMMCS Tin Tops.

After a quiet few weeks, the British Automobile Racing Club returns to action this weekend (July 31/August 1) at Brands Hatch – and our cameras will be there to broadcast it all live on Facebook and YouTube.

In what is set to be a blockbuster two days of track action around the famed Indy circuit, every point is set to be crucial as the 2021 campaign begins to head towards the business end of the season.

BARC quartet revved up for blockbuster Brands Hatch weekend

The British Automobile Racing Club speeds back to Brands Hatch this weekend (July 31/August 1) for an action-packed two days of track action which will undoubtedly prove pivotal in deciding who will be crowned champion come the end of the season.

Taking centre stage around the Indy circuit of the Kent venue, four categories will continue their campaigns in front of a packed trackside audience and thousands watching online.

Headlining the weekend’s action will be races from both the Endurance and Trophy classes of the Britcar Endurance Championship. Enjoying its best-ever season to-date, Britcar has continued to go from strength-to-strength this year with healthy grid sizes for both Endurance and Trophy.

As momentum builds heading into the business end of the season, the battle for supremacy at the top of the standings in both is only set to ramp up across the individual classes.

Those worth casting a watchful eye over include Richard Morris, Will Powell, Dave Scaramanga, Simon Baker and Richard Higgins, along with many, many more.

The Classic Touring Car Racing Club is revved up to take centre stage at Brands Hatch this weekend as it continues what has already proven to be an ultra-competitive season.

Renowned for producing close-quarter wheel-to-wheel entertainment, no less than eight races will take place across both days too; and not one of them will be worth missing.

Showcasing the very best tin tops and enforcing the point that variety is the spice of life, Brands Hatch will see the Pre ’66 Classic Saloon & Historic Touring Cars, Shell Oils Pre ’83 Touring Cars, Laser Tools Pre ’93 Touring Cars and Simply Serviced Pre ’03 Touring Cars all in action.

There will be further thrills and spills from the Blue Oval Saloon Series, Edmundson Electrical Classic / Historic Thunder Saloons and Jaguar Enthusiasts Club Saloon & GT Championship during the weekend too.

History books will be rewritten in the Junior Saloon Car Championship as the one-make series fields its biggest-ever grid. Eclipsing the previous record of 27, the JSCC will boast a 28-car line-up for what are expected to be two pulsating contests.

Charlie Hand finds himself in the box seat and as the driver everyone is chasing after building a commanding lead in the standings. Chalking up a number of race wins alongside a consistent run of results, Hand heads to Brands with a 31-point lead that he will be keen to extend.

Leading the chase for the 2020 runner-up is Harvey Caton whilst the likes of Alife Jeakins, Ruben Hage and Aaron Walker are all within touching distance of the summit as well.

Rounding out the weekend’s track action in the Garden of England will be two races from the Kumho BMW Championship. Open to any production BMW sold in the UK, the series has garnered a reputation for close racing and that is expected to continue.

Notable names to look out for include Kevin Denwood, Brad Sheehan, Trevor Ford, Peter Miller and Darren Morgan-Owen.

BARC championships continue campaigns at Snetterton

Snetterton provided the latest stop on the calendar for a number of British Automobile Racing Club championships this past weekend (July 3/4) with the title battles in many of them ramping up.

In the Junior Saloon Car Championship, Charlie Hand strengthened his grip at the summit of the standings with a superlative performance. Having entered the weekend as the driver to beat, the teenage sensation didn’t put a wheel wrong as he powered his way to a brace of wins.

Paul Roddison’s march to the Max5 Racing Championship crown continued as he scored his fifth win from six races. Roddison had hoped to add to his winning streak however the return of Jon Halliwell put pay to that, with the latter claiming a well-deserved victory.

Spoils were shared in the Kumho BMW Championship as James Card and Brad Sheehan powered their way to a win apiece. Showcasing some of the most iconic models from the Bavaria brand, Card struck first with a commanding win in race one before Sheehan repeated the feat in race two.

The Silverlake C1 Racing Series was also in action, with 24-hour race winners Hybrid Tune – Full Circle Racing tallying another victory in a thrilling three-hour bout on Saturday.

BARC speeds into Snetterton for two days of action-packed thrills

The British Automobile Racing Club speeds into Snetterton this weekend (July 3/4) with four championships ready to continue their respective campaigns.

With summer upon us and spectators continuing to make their return trackside, the weekend has all the hallmarks of being an instant classic.

Back out of the border following their highland fling at Knockhill, the Junior Saloon Car Championship will make its second trip to the Norfolk venue with a grid of youngsters that are revved up for action.

Charlie Hand remains the driver to beat as it stands having paired raw speed with relentless consistency, however he will need to be at his best if he is to continue his spell at the summit. Hot on his heels are a number of front-running contenders and leading the chase is Harvey Caton and Aaron Walker.

Throw into the mix the likes of fie Jeakins, Ruben Hage, Matthew Cripps, Loui Hounsell, Harry Rice, Tommy Gilham, Ashley Gregory, Jacob Heap and Oliver Cottam, and you begin to see why the weekend’s two contests will be so fiercely fought over.

Elsewhere, the Silverlake C1 Racing Series is gearing up for an epic weekend at Snetterton which will consist of no less than seven hours of track time.

Having kicked off the season with their annual Silverstone 24-hour race in May, the much-loved one-make category descends on the 300 layout boasting a bumper, ultra-competitive field.

Qualifying will take place on Saturday morning before a three-hour contest that afternoon caps off the action for day one. They’ll then return on Sunday for a slightly longer four-hour bout.

The Max5 Racing Championship is set to make the first of its back-to-back trips to Snetterton this Sunday with the battle for supremacy delicately poised.

Renowned for producing high-octane, wheel-to-wheel entertainment, the one-make series has already starred at Cadwell Park and Silverstone, and it is expected that they will do the same around the near three-mile track.

Paul Roddison finds himself in the box seat as it stands, with four wins from four races putting him top of the standings. The series stalwart will need to be at his best however as the likes of Jeremy Shipley, Ben Taylor, Kimberley Nolan and Joe Jacob have all made their mark over the course of the opening two events and they can’t be discounted.

Fans of all things BMW will be well-catered for as the Kumho BMW Championship continues its 2021 season with two races. Showcasing a variety of different models from the Bavarian marque, the championship runs to a multi-class format, leading to plenty of enthralling wheel-to-wheel moments.

Notable names to look out for over the course of the weekend from the Kumho BMW contingent includes Brad Sheehan, Darren Morgan-Owen, Ian Crisp, Kevin Denwood, Trevor and James Card, amongst many more.

Rounding out the weekend’s action will be the Radical Challenge Championship, which makes its second appearance at BARC race meeting this year.

BARC championships deliver action-packed weekend to remember at Brands Hatch

The British Automobile Racing Club soaked up the sun to produce two days of unmissable, edge-of-the-seat entertainment this past weekend ( June 5/6) at Brands Hatch.

Making the first of several visits to the Kent venue over the course of the 2021 season, a total of eight championships took to the Indy circuit and turned on the style for the enthusiastic crowd that was in attendance.

One of the headline acts during the weekend was the British Truck Racing Championship. Lifting the curtain on a brand new season, the heavyweight behemoths wasted no time in making their presence known as they served up five bruising encounters.

Division 1 saw reigning five-time champion Ryan Smith begin the pursuit of a sixth crown on the right foot as he powered his way to a hat-trick of wins. Martin Gibson and Mark Taylor would go on to end Smith’s winning streak on Sunday as they tallied a win apiece.

In Division 2, defending champion Steven Powell enjoyed an equally impressive start to the season as he, like Smith, scored a trio of victories. Such is the competitiveness throughout the field, Powell was unable to claim a clean sweep as former champion Adam Bint and Craig Reid also stood on the top step of the podium.

It proved to be an emotional weekend for the Legends Cars National Championship with MRF Tyres as they paid tribute to Gerard McCosh, a stalwart of the series who passed away earlier this year. A poignant two-lap parade on Sunday saw the entire 34-car grid follow Gerard’s infamous car for the final time before it is retired.

Aside from the tribute, the Legends as ever delivered six pulsating encounters that will live long in the memory. John Mickel, Will Gibson and Steve Whitelegg reigned supreme on the Saturday before Mickel and Gibson added to their tallies on Sunday. Paul Simmons would emerge as the other race winner.

The Pickup Truck Racing Championship made its first appearance at Brands Hatch since 2019 and didn’t disappoint with two frenetic races taking centre stage. Current title holder George Turiccki opened his account for the season with a win in race one before Michael Smith did the same in race two.

Hot off the heels of starring at Donington Park on Bank Holiday Monday, the Kumho BMW Championship was back in action with another two races. Brad Sheehan proved to be the driver to beat in his E46 M3, winning both bouts narrowly ahead of James Card.

Pete Sparrow continued his fine start to the 2CVParts.com Championship as he bagged another brace of wins. Having won at their Cadwell Park season opener, the former multiple champion arrived at Brands Hatch keen to extend his advantage in the points – and he did just that.

Storming to pole position for both races, Sparrow didn’t put a wheel wrong in either contest to stretch his legs out front and take the chequered flag comfortably.

The Lancaster Insurance MG Owners Club Championship boasted a bumper entry list however Steve McDermid wasn’t to be denied from claiming his fourth straight win of the year in race one. William Sharpe finally halted his momentum however in race two, as he claimed a win of his own to cap off a memorable second event for the magnificent MGs.

Steve Burrows and Ray Harris were victorious in the CMMCS Avon Tyres Intermarque Silhouettes whilst the Quaife MINI CHALLENGE Trophy rounded out the weekend’s action, with wins going the way of Matt Hammond and Joe Wiggin.

Blockbuster weekend awaits the BARC at Brands Hatch

Brands Hatch beckons for the British Automobile Racing Club this weekend (June 5/6) for what should be an unmissable race meeting around the Indy circuit, headlined by no less than five races from the British Truck Racing Championship.

In what is one of the must-see events on the UK motorsport calendar, the titans of truck racing will lift the curtain on a brand-new season whilst a number of other championships will also take centre stage to continue their 2021 campaign.

Having not raced at the Kent venue since 2019, this weekend’s BTRC opener is a homecoming of sorts and the expectation that neither Division 1 or Division 2 is going to disappoint those in attendance and watching live online.

Boasting an ultra-competitive entry list throughout, many eyes will be on Ryan Smith in Division 1 as he bids to clinch a sixth consecutive title. Cementing his status as the driver to beat in the premier class over the past five years, Smith has his sights set on making more history however he faces stiff competition.

Former champions David Jenkins and Stuart Oliver are stalwarts of the championship and know what it takes to win. Having run Smith close in recent years, both will be confident that they can string together a season-long challenge to dethrone the current king.

In Division 2, Steven Powell will don the mantel of defending champion. Having narrowly missed out on the crown on a number of occasions, Powell made no mistake in 2020 as he stormed to the title in style.

Now aiming to clinch back-to-back crowns, Powell will be eager to pick up where he left off last year however he too faces competition from a raft of challengers. Former champion Adam Bint, Brad Smith, John Powell, John Bowler and Paul Rivett have all triumphed in the past and will be worth keeping an eye on.

The Legends Cars National Championship with MRF Tyres has proven to be a fan favourite down the years and they will look to steal the show as always. Former champion Miles Rudman holds the early advantage as the pocket rockets descend on the Indy circuit however he will need to be in top form to remain there.

As always, the battle for supremacy is as fraught as ever and with the likes of John Mickel, Daniel Clark, Jack Parker, Steve Whitelegg and Nick Bridgeman, to name but a few, all racing, all bets are off.

Towards the end of the lunchbreak on Sunday there is to be a special two-lap parade in memory of late Legends racer Gerard McCosh. The popular competitor, who tragically lost his life in February after a battle with cancer, will be celebrated by all of his friends within the paddock.

After a year on the sidelines, the Pickup Truck Racing Championship made a popular return at Mallory Park last month and is now revved up to produce more edge-of-the-seat entertainment.

Two pulsating encounters around the Mallory Oval saw Reece Jones triumph to grab the early initiative and he will be hoping for more of the same at Brands. With two races scheduled to play out though, the likes of George Turiccki, Dale Gent, Michael Smith, Daniel Petters, Dean Tompkins and Mark Willis will all undoubtedly be in contention towards the front.

Vintage thrills will be offered up by the Lancaster Insurance MG Owners Club Championship as they write the latest chapter in their season. Steve McDermid scored a sensational hat-trick at the MGOC curtain-raiser and he will be keen to continue his fine form.

Meanwhile, Simon Kendrick, Stephen Amphlett, Stuart Plotnek and Chris Millard have underlined their credentials towards the sharp end of the grid in the past and any one of them could stake their claim around the Indy circuit.

Also taking fans on a spirited trip down memory lane will be the 2CVParts.com Championship. Steeped in more than 30 years of history, the championship has established itself as one of the most exciting single-make categories that runs today.

Multiple champion Pete Sparrow has his sights set on regaining the crown he lost to Alec Graham last year and he made the perfect start by tallying a brace of wins around the undulating twists and turns of the Lincolnshire-based venue. Whether or not he can continue his fine form remains to be seen.

Fresh off the back of their Bank Holiday Monday showing at Donington Park, the Kumho BMW Championship has a quick turnaround to return to the action. Home to all models that run the iconic Bavarian brand logo, the series enjoyed a superlative start a few days ago and

Rounding out the weekend’s track action at Brands Hatch will be contests from the MINI CHALLENGE Trophy and Avon Tyres Intermarque Silhouettes.

Donington Park delivers scorching BARC bank holiday spectacular

Donington Park played host to a blockbuster day of tin top thrills this past Bank Holiday Monday (May 31) as the Classic Touring Car Racing Club, Kumho BMW Championship and Mighty Minis Championship headlined the British Automobile Racing Club’s one-day meeting.

Bathed in bright sunshine and competing in front of spectators for the first time this year, the Leicestershire venue provided the perfect backdrop for an unmissable day of track action.

Taking centre stage as they rolled back the years under the flight path of East Midlands airport was the Classic Touring Car Racing Club, who produced no less than eight captivating contests.

Joe Ferguson and Tom Bell shared the spoils in the Pre ’66 Touring Cars category whilst the amalgamated Pre ‘8 Touring Cars and Jaguar Enthusiasts Club races saw James Ramm reign supreme, winning twice in his Jaguar XJS.

AJ Owen and Gary Prebble proved to be the class of the field in the Pre ’93 and Pre ’03 Touring Car bouts, going head-to-head in both. Prebble would get the better of Owen in the opening race before the latter struck back in race two, tallying his latest win of the season.

The Classic/Historic Thunder Saloons and Blue Oval Saloon Series brought the curtain down on the CTCRC action and like the others, they too enjoyed a pair of full-throttle races. Andrew Wilson piloted his Holden Monaro to victory in the opener before Matty Evans struck back in race two.

Renowned for producing close racing, the Mighty Minis Championship had fans on the edge of their seats as they delivered two enthralling contests. Dancing their way around the flowing 1.97-mile National circuit, the Mini contingent showcased what they are all about in front of an appreciative crowd.

Stuart Coombs struck first as he converted his second row start into what can be deemed as a commanding victory in the series, crossing the line more than three seconds ahead of his nearest challenger.

Race two would see an almighty scrap for the win take place with the top four covered by less than a second at the flag. Underlining his credentials as defending Super Mighty Mini champion, Ian Slark held off the battling Coombs, Steven Rideout and Alex Comis to prevail.

Capping off the days action were two races from the Kumho BMW Championship, who were making their first appearance of 2021. Home to all manner of machinery that carries the iconic BMW badge, the single-manufacturer series lifted the curtain on a brand new season in sensational style.

Brad Sheeham proved to be the driver to beat in the opening encounter as he powered his M3 E46 from second on the grid to victory, narrowly pipping the charging Jason West.

Having been forced to retire from race one, Michael Pensavalle served up an overtaking masterclass in race two to win. Starting from 17th, the M3 E46 racer wasted no time in making progress and by lap ten found himself at the front of the field, where he would remain until the chequered flag was waved.

BARC revved up for bank holiday tin top thriller at Donington Park

The British Automobile Racing Club is gearing up for a bank holiday race day that should set pulses racing this coming Monday (May 31) as a trio of championships head to Donington Park.

In what is set to be the first of several visits to the Leicestershire venue over the course of the 2021 season by the Club, Monday’s meeting will not only see spectators make a welcome return but will also see TV cameras in attendance for our latest live stream spectacle.

Headlining the day will be no less than eight races from the Classic Touring Car Racing Club. Serving up a feast of entertainment at Silverstone last month, the tin tops from yesteryear will write the latest chapter in their campaign as they showcase some of the most iconic saloons from past decades.

Taking centre stage under the flightpath of East Midlands airport will be from the Pre ’66 Classic Saloon & Historic Touring Cars, Shell Oils Pre ’83 Touring Cars, Laser Tools Pre ’93 Touring Cars, Simply Serviced Pre ’03 Touring Cars, Blue Oval Saloon Series, Edmundson Electrical Classic/Historic Thunder Saloons and Jaguar Enthusiasts Club Saloon & GT Championship.

Notable names to look over the course of the day include Peter Smith, Richard Wood, AJ Owen, Ashley Shelswell, Ray West, Tom Robinson and David Howard, to name but a few.

The Mighty Minis Championship is renowned for producing blockbuster wheel-to-wheel entertainment and Monday should be no different as the pocket rockets continue their season.

British Truck Racing Championship event at Pembrey rescheduled for June

The first round of the British Truck Racing Championship, scheduled to take place at Pembrey Circuit in May, has been pushed back to the later date of June 19/20.

As the Welsh Government has yet to give any indication of when events may be able to restart, this decision has been taken to allow maximum opportunity for the championship to enjoy a full complement of race meetings this year.

However, it is considered highly unlikely that spectators will be allowed to attend, even on this new date. As a result, the decision has reluctantly been taken to postpone the planned truck show, Convoy Cymru, until 2022.

This exciting new truck festival has already gathered huge support this year. The stunt arena, static displays, demonstrations and a truck driving experience will be among the activities that will now have to be enjoyed next year.

Ben Taylor, BARC Chief Executive: “This has been a difficult decision to take, but it seems sensible to make the call at this point so that we can reschedule the race meeting for June. We are gutted to have to push Convoy Cymru back to next year after the amazing response it has generated, but the story is the same for all the major events across Wales this year. It will be spectacular next year.”

Alongside the British Truck Racing Championship, the 2CV Parts.com Classic Racing Championship, Kumho BMW Championship and Welsh Sports/Saloon Car Championship are all scheduled to race on the new race date in June.
