Where To Watch BARC LIVE: Donington Park – October 22/23

Champions will be crowned at Donington Park this weekend (October 22/23) as the British Automobile Racing Club takes centre stage at the Leicestershire venue for an action-packed two days.

On what promises to be a title deciding spectacle under the flightpath of East Midlands airport, the gloves are set to come off as the battle for supremacy further intensifies.

The British Endurance Championship will conclude its inaugural season with a two-hour contest whilst both the Britcar Trophy Championship and Praga Cup will also look to sign off their campaigns in style.

Thrills and spills will undoubtedly be served up by the Classic Touring Car Racing Club, with the MINI CHALLENGE Trophy also joining the bill for the penultimate event of their season.

BARC enjoys weekend to remember at blockbuster Convoy in the Park

Donington Park provided the backdrop for a blockbuster two days of track action this past weekend (August 20/21) as the British Automobile Racing Club took centre stage at Convoy of the Park.

On what proved to be a weekend to remember, thousands of fans flocked to the Leicestershire venue for a festival of all things trucking – with seven championships arguably stealing the show on-track.

Headlining was five blockbuster contests from the British Truck Racing Championship, where there was action aplenty across both Division’s 1 & 2. In Division 1, reigning champion Ryan Smith scored a brace of wins whilst there were further victories for Simon Reid, David Jenkins and Michael Oliver. 

Four different drivers also triumphed in Division 2 with former double title winner Luke Garrett leading the way with a commanding pair of wins. John Powell, Brad Smith and Adam Bint also tasted success as they topped the podium in the remaining three bouts.

The British Endurance Championship enjoyed a starring role on Saturday afternoon with a two-hour contest and it was the Rob Boston Racing pairing of Tom Jackson and Wayne Marrs that ultimately stole the show in their Mercedes GT3.

After blasting to pole position in qualifying, the duo then produced a commanding performance in the series’ penultimate event of the season to win by almost a full lap ahead of Huge Cook Racing and RaceLab. 

Will Gibson bagged a hat-trick of wins in the Legends Cars National Championship to close the gap to Miles Rudman in the standings. Gibson paired raw pace with consistency over the course of both days to become the most successful driver in the series of 2022 to-date.

Rudman made sure he limited the damage to his chief title rival with a double of his own whilst Stephen Whitelegg chalked up the remaining victory that was up for grabs.

Jimmy Broadbent and Gordie Mutch took a step closer to lifting the Praga Cup title as they claimed a superb win in the first of the weekend’s two 60-minute contests.

Broadbent arguably delivered one of the moments of the event as he charged from fifth to first in just a single lap. Sunday’s second race saw the duo of Charles Hall and Scott Mittell edge out the impressive Shane Kelly to win. 

The Junior Saloon Car Championship had its fair share of drama with just one of its two scheduled races being completed. A number of incidents in the opening encounter brought out a lengthy red flag stoppage before it was decided that racing would not resume. 

Race two would run to its scheduled distance later in the day with leading rookie Maximus Hall scoring a pivotal win to close the gap to series leader Harry Hickton. Daire Flock and CJ Morgan joined the Westbourne Motorsport driver on the rostrum.

Jon Woolfitt proved to be in a league of his own in the North West Centre’s flagship category, the CNC Heads Sports/Saloon Car Championship. At the wheel of his Spire GTR, Woolfitt didn’t put a wheel wrong to take a clean sweep; pole position and two race wins.

Bringing the curtain down on an entertaining two days at Donington Park was two races from the Pickup Truck Racing Championship. George Turiccki – who is looking to make it three consecutive titles in-a-row – maintained his march towards the crown with another dominant double.

Where To Watch BARC LIVE: Donington Park – August 20/21

Donington Park plays host to the British Automobile Racing Club for the second successive weekend (August 20/21) this Saturday and Sunday for one of the biggest events on the UK motorsport calendar; Convoy in the Park.

The Leicestershire venue is set to have fun for all the family both on and off the track, with thousands of spectators expected to flock trackside for the ultimate trucking festival.

Headlining the action on-track will be five blockbuster contests from the British Truck Racing Championship and an unmissable two-hour race courtesy of the British Endurance Championship.

Further thrills and spills are also set to be provided by the Praga Cup, Junior Saloon Car Championship, Pickup Truck Racing Championship and CNC Heads Sports/Saloon Car Championship over the course of both days.

BARC enjoys fun in the sun at Snetterton

The British Automobile Racing Club made its mark at Snetterton this past weekend (May 14/15) as a number of championships continued their 2022 campaigns around the challenging 300 circuit.

Headlining the action on Saturday afternoon was a blockbuster three-hour British Endurance Championship race. After storming to pole position, the McLaren 720S GT3 pairing of Lucky Khera and Ewan Hankey converted their front row start into a dominant victory of more than 20 seconds. 

Wayne Marrs and Tom Jackson guided their Rob Boston Racing Mercedes GT3 to second whilst the Lamborghini Super Trefeo Evo of Iain Campell and Oliver Webb completed the podium in third.

There was plenty of excitement in the two Praga Cup contests with race one seeing a popular pairing claim victory. Despite starting from the pit lane, Jimmy Broadbent and Gordie Mutch produced a sensational performance to secure a narrow victory.

Broadbent and Mutch then went on to make it a weekend to remember on Sunday as they once again stormed to victory, this time from pole position as led home the Raw Motorsport pairing of Matt Bell and Robert Wheldon.

Bryan Branson and Jasver Sapra were the dominant force in the Britcar Trophy as they reigned supreme with two superlative wins ahead of what was an ultra-competitive chasing pack.

Harry Hickton’s stranglehold of the Junior Saloon Car Championship continued as he bagged another brace of wins. Entering the weekend as the series leader, the multiple race-winner added to his tally with two emphatic performances around the 2.99-mile circuit.

The Citroen Saxo driver held off Jacob Heap in the opening bout before then repeating the feat in race two, this time holding off Maximus Hall – the two of them having pulled clear of the field by more than ten seconds.

In the Carbon8 Hyundai Coupe Cup, Alistair Dendy powered his way to an impressive double with Alex Cursely and Wayen Rockett emerging as his nearest challengers whilst James Card and Niall Bradley shared the spoils in the Kumho BMW Championship.

Rounding out the weekend’s track action was a 45-minute race from the Snetterton Saloons. Sapra – who triumphed in the Britcar Trophy – emerged as the driver to beat as he powered his BMW E36 M3 to the top step of the podium – taking the chequered by 17 seconds in the end.

Snetterton provides the backdrop for a feast of endurance and GT racing this weekend (May 14/15) as the British Automobile Racing Club heads to the Norfolk track for what should be an unforgettable two days of competition. 

In front of what is expected to be a bumper online audience, the British Endurance Championship will continue its inaugural season with a three-hour race whilst both the Praga Cup and Britcar Trophy will be in action too.

Also hitting the track over the course of the weekend will be the Junior Saloon Car Championship, Kumho BMW Championship, Carbon8 Hyundai Coupe Cup and Snetterton Saloons.

BARC quartet serve up spectacular Oulton Park race day

The British Automobile Racing Club took centre stage at Oulton Park this past Saturday (April 2) where four championships played their part in what proved to be an entertaining race day. 

Organised and run by the Club’s North West Centre, the sun shone on the picturesque Cheshire venue as an enthusiastic crowd lined the bankings to watch a frenetic day of wheel-to-wheel action.

After kicking off their 2022 season at Silverstone last month, the British Endurance Championship took centre stage for a two-hour contest which ultimately ended up being dominated by the Rob Boston Racing Mercedes AMG GT3 of Wayne Marrs and Tom Jackson.

Set a blistering pace to snare pole position during a truncated qualifying session, the duo proved to be in a league of their own as they charged to victory – lapping the entire field in doing so. 

Behind, MacG Racing’s Jonny MacGregor piloted his Taranis to second place whilst the pairing of Chris Goddard and Charlie Hollings guided their RNR Performance Cars Ferrari 458 Challenge to the third step of the podium. 

Further endurance thrills around the 2.69-mile International circuit came in the shape of the Praga Cup. Despite a number of incidents producing a lengthy safety car period in the early stages, the fledgling category produced plenty of edge-of-the-seat moments.

Despite losing a door and subsequently spinning, Idola Motorsport’s Miles Lacey and Tommy Foster clinched victory ahead of Jimmy Broadbent and Gordie Mutch. 

The Legends Cars National Championship lifted the curtain on a brand new season and the 5/8 scale machines didn’t disappoint as they delivered a trio of exhilarating encounters. 

Matthew Isherwood charged to what was his maiden win in the series in race one before multiple title winner John Mickel chalked up his 150th in race two. Reigning champion Miles Rudman came to the fore in a red flag interrupted third contest to make it three different winners from three races. 

Rounding off the day’s track action was the season-opener for the CNC Heads Sports/Saloon Car Championship, the flagship category for the BARC North West Centre.

Boasting a bumper entry list which included a number of former champions, the 12-lap bout saw Andrew Southcott claim victory in his MG Midget Lenham.

BARC kicks off 2022 season in style at Silverstone

The British Automobile Racing Club kicked off its 2022 season in sensational style at Silverstone this past weekend (March 12/13) with the British Endurance Championship, Praga Cup and Britcar Trophy Championship all taking centre stage.

After months of excitement and anticipation, the Grand Prix layout of the Northamptonshire venue provided the backdrop for the first track action of the year for the Club, with TV cameras in attendance to broadcast every lap on Facebook and YouTube. 

Headlining the weekend was the new-for-2022 British Endurance Championship, the Motorsport UK-sanctioned iteration of what was formerly known as the Britcar Endurance Championship.

With revised regulations, and a modified class structure to guarantee competitiveness across a range of machines, the three-hour encounter served up a feast of entertainment for those watching both trackside and online.

Having qualified towards the lower end of the top ten, the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 pairing of Lucky Khera and Lee Frost produced a superlative performance during the race to clinch a dominant victory – lapping the entire field on their way to the top step of the podium. 

Following on from a groundbreaking 2021 where they featured alongside Britcar, the inaugural Praga Cup made its debut at the Home of British Motor Racing and it too didn’t disappoint. 

Two one-hour races had fans on the edge of their seats from start-to-finish, with just under two seconds separating the top three in the opening bout. Alex Connor and Tom Canning edged out the competition to win race one before Charlie Hall and Scott Mittell teamed up to prevail in race two. 

Capping off the endurance competition was a brace of contests from the Britcar Trophy Championship which saw Ginetta entrants SVG Motorsport and Motus One score a win apiece.

The Super Series by the British Superkart Racing Club saw three pulsating races play out, with the spoils being shared between Matt Robinson and Liam Morley; Robinson heading Morley to clinch a pair of wins.

Rounding out the weekend’s track action was a solitary race from the Uncle Lukes Snetterton Saloons with Z Cars Racing Championship, where Rhys Lloyd claimed a dominant victory in his Opel Astra TCR.

The British Automobile Racing Club Awards Evening made a triumphant return on Saturday 26th February as champions, officials and volunteers were honoured for their achievements from what was a sensational 2021 season.

Ben Taylor – BARC Chief Executive: The Club’s Chief Executive sits down after a memorable night of celebrations to take stock of what has been a challenging past few years, honouring the champions of 2021 and how things are shaping up ahead of the 2022 campaign.

Alan Gow – BTCC Chief Executive: The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship enters a new era this year as hybrid technology is introduced. With the season now less than two months away, BTCC Chief Executive Alan Gow speaks on what is shaping up to be another fantastic campaign.

Dennis Carter – BARC Gold Medal Recipient: Spending nearly three decades working for the Club, firstly as Competitions Director and then as Chief Executive, Dennis has contributed an inordinate amount to both national and international motorsport, as well as to the BARC, and it is only fitting that he is honoured with a Gold Medal – the highest honour to be handed out by the Club and its Council.

Ian Watson – BARC Special Recognition Recipient: After spending two decades working for the Club, Ian retired from his role as General Manager at the end of the 2020 season and he was honoured for his services to the BARC at the Awards Evening along with Dale Wells.

Miles Rudman – Winner of The President’s Cup: Awarded to the most successful driver competing under international level, the Legends Cars National Championship with MRF Tyres title winner clinched his second crown in 2021 with 17 wins to his name – making him the standout recipient of the coveted President’s Cup.

Charlie Hand – Winner of The Peter Collins Trophy: Awarded to the most promising newcomer competing in a BARC championship, Hand was a worthy winner of The Peter Collins Trophy as he dominated the Junior Saloon Car Championship on his way to the title.

Chris Davenport – Winner of The Sir Clive Bossom Trophy: Designed to recognise and reward BARC Member Marshals for their service and dedication, this award is handed out to the marshal that completes the most volunteering days in a season. Last year saw Chris complete a total of 28 to clinch The Sir Clive Bossom Trophy.

Dan Cammish – Porsche Carrera Cup GB Champion: Returning to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB last year, Cammish re-wrote the history books as he clinched a third title. For 2022, he’s back in the BTCC and teaming up with reigning champion Ashley Sutton to spearhead the NAPA Racing UK entry.

Claire Hedley – British Endurance and Britcar Trophy Championship Coordinator: Having grown exponentially in recent years, Britcar embarks on a new chapter this year as it runs the new-for-2022 British Endurance Championship as well as the Britcar Trophy and Praga Cup. Championship Coordinator Claire Hedley gives us the lowdown on what is to come.
