The Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain championship is one of the fastest single-marque GT series in the UK and has attracted some of the best drivers and best teams over the years – and along with the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) Porsche look forward to another exciting season on track. 

The machine at the disposal is the stunning Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car (Type 992) which delivers 510 bhp from its sweet-sounding four-litre six-cylinder boxer engine. With its rear-wheel-drive configuration and the challenge of some of the best circuits in Europe – the championship has produced some star names in motorsport including Richard Westbrook, Dan Cammish, Nicholas Latifi and Nick Tandy who has gone on to become one of the greatest sports car drivers of all time after completing the clean sweep of outright wins in all four of the world’s greatest 24 hour sportscar races – all at the wheel of Stuttgart branded machines.

The championship has been a firm fixture on the TOCA and BARC package since 2003, and in its 23rd season it continues to challenge the competitors on famous circuits such as the high-speed Thruxton, Brands Hatch, Donnington, Silverstone and Knockhill. The series also occasionally ventures into continental Europe for championship ‘away weekends’.

The racing is split into three categories with a place for all drivers with all levels of experience. The classes consist of Professional (PRO), Professional-Amateur (PRO-AM) and Amateur (AM). There are also Rookie and Entrant Championship’s as well.

Motorsport fans will be able to watch all the action from the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain race weekends LIVE on ITV4 and ITVX – with a comprehensive day of racing coverage on Sundays as it joins the BARC and TOCA package alongside the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship and British Formula 4.
