Stacked Porsche Carrera Cup GB grid kicks into life for upcoming season

13 Mar 17

A brand new campaign of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship roared into life at Silverstone today (13th March) as the traditional season launch took place.

In what is shaping up to be one of the most competitive years in recent memory, a bumper grid of more than 20 911 GT3 machines will duke it out for the coveted crown on the popular TOCA series.

The man to beat heading into the 2017 season is reigning champion Dan Cammish, who is looking to clinch a third successive championship to his racing CV. Establishing his dominance in the one-make category over the past two years, Cammish has been the runaway champion of the past two years.

Dovetailing his efforts for a third title with Supercup appearances on the Formula 1 support package, the challenges for Redline Racing driver are set to come from all corners of the grid.

Leading the list of contenders is likely to be last years top rookie Charlie Eastwood and Cammish's closest challenger in 2016 Dino Zamparelli.

Former Ginetta GT Supercup champions Tom Oliphant and Tom Wrigley will also be on the hunt for silverware as will Jamie Orton, who also transitions across from the Ginetta brand.

Other notable drivers to watch out for include Lewis Plato, former GP2 ace Tio Ellinas and former BTCC driver Alex Martin.

The action is set to also be ultra-competitive in the Pro-Am 1 and 2 categories with a host of big names duking it out for superiority.
